What Types of Remote Jobs are out There?
The short answer to what types of remote jobs are out there? Just about everything and anything!
Blog over. Hah!
Seriously, there are so many options! Do you like your current job? It may be possible to make take that job into a remote role. What if you can’t do that?
The job market is changing. More and more people are looking for remote jobs and for good reason! A remote job can offer many benefits, such as flexibility, freedom, and the ability to work from anywhere.
I always ask people what is it you like to do? What inspires you? What type of work aligns with you and your lifestyle? This can steer you into a new remote role. Take a good look at your skills and how they can transfer. This is the time to think creatively. I hear from so many people that do not think they have skills and are not confident on a way toward remote work. It is time to reinvent the way you see yourself. Sometimes we define ourselves with a label of what we do for a living.
For example, we are introduced to someone as a truck driver, or nurse, or teacher, or CEO. The list is infinite here. We can feel that is who we are and it can be what defines us. All of these jobs come with skills. Now would be a great time pull out a sheet of paper and make a list of those skills. Making this list of skills can really help you reinvent your work life and title.
Let me tell you a story about Arnie!
Arnie teaches flute in person and also at music studios. When the pandemic hit, his students vanished. I had to highly encourage him to find a way to teach flute online. He resisted but finally decided to give it a try. His students came back and now Arnie and his students don’t need to leave his house!
Arnie is not alone. We have teachers teaching remote classes, choirs performing online, customer service departments are now all working from home. Things have changed, but the good news is that there are more options than ever. Employers are seeing that they are saving money having a remote workforce.
Don’t limit your search to jobs with an employer. What about working for yourself?
It may seem like you are dependent on employers to supply jobs. But it may be time to consider working for yourself as a freelancer or starting your own business. Just food for thought. Maybe consulting with similar companies are a good fit and align with your skills that you can take into the marketplace. The same ideas apply:
Think about your skillset. What you like to do and what inspires you?
So what type of jobs are out there?
Really anything! Think creatively. Customer service, bookkeeping, virtual assistant, social media management, project management, people management…just to name a few!
